Speech Writing

For the last two weeks we have been working on writing speeches.
My topic was about saving rainforests.
We had to present them in front of our class.
I think my speech was good.

Here is my speech.

Why Rainforests are important?

Have you ever wondered how many rainforests have been destroyed? Well I have. Rainforests are the homes of many endangered animals and they are being destroyed. I believe rainforests should be saved now and this is why.

Firstly if trees are removed from the rainforests soil will wash away and if the soil is washed away plants and trees will never grow back.  When that happens all the endangered animals will not have a home or any food to survive. If animals don’t have a home or any food to survive they will die.

Secondly, more than 2 million hectares of rainforests are being destroyed. They are cutting the trees down to make palm oil and furniture. And using the cleared land for farming and mining. They are mining for gold and coal. Whilst they are doing that they are destroying the rainforests and animals lose their homes.

Finally we need rainforests as they process most of the oxygen we breathe. The trees draw in the bad air (carbon dioxide) and use it to grow and process the good air into the atmosphere. When the trees are destroyed they give off carbon dioxide which is bad for our atmosphere.

That is why I think we should help save rainforests. We need to to help save rainforests to make sure all the animals, especially endangered animals have a place to stay.
