Handwriting Sample
At the end of the term we did a handwriting sample. We had to use our capital and lower case letters.

Garden to table
Today in garden to table I was in the garden. We did lots of weeding. Laylah and I picked some flowers and there were some pink, white, orange, yellow and red sweetpeas and put them into a pot. After we finished picking our flowers, we went and planted some strawberry plants. After that we went into the orchard and planted passionfruit plants. Once we had finished in the garden we went around the front and put our gloves back into the bag and washed our hands and sat on the field and had a picnic. It was yum! Here are some photos of me in the garden.

Koru Art
We made koru art with Whaea Rose by printing our cut out korus onto a white piece of paper. We did this by drawing our korus first, then cutting them out and printing them onto paper. We used a roller to stick them down.
My koru represents my family.
I really like the way that the birds are flying in my koru art.

Scientific Writing
We did a hovercraft experiment and then we wrote it up using the correct structure.
TITLE
Balloon Hovercraft
QUESTION
How does a hovercraft hover?
HYPOTHESIS
I predict that the balloon hovercraft will hover over the table.
EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS:
Cd, balloon, bottle cap.
PROCEDURE:
Step 1:Using a hot glue gun, glue the bottle cap over the CD hole.
Step 2: Blow up a balloon. When it is fully inflated twist the end so no air comes out.
Step 3: Stretch the balloon end over the bottle lid.
Step 4: Open up the cap and place the CD on a table.
Step 5: Untwist balloon and let go.
OBSERVATIONS/RESULTS:
I found out that the air from the balloon creates a path of air.
CONCLUSION:
The air from the balloon creates a cushion of moving air between the disc and the surface. The air lifts the CD and reduces the friction which allows the CD to hover across the surface.

Speech Writing
For the last two weeks we have been working on writing speeches.
My topic was about saving rainforests.
We had to present them in front of our class.
I think my speech was good.
Here is my speech.
Why Rainforests are important?
Have you ever wondered how many rainforests have been destroyed? Well I have. Rainforests are the homes of many endangered animals and they are being destroyed. I believe rainforests should be saved now and this is why.
Firstly if trees are removed from the rainforests soil will wash away and if the soil is washed away plants and trees will never grow back. When that happens all the endangered animals will not have a home or any food to survive. If animals don’t have a home or any food to survive they will die.
Secondly, more than 2 million hectares of rainforests are being destroyed. They are cutting the trees down to make palm oil and furniture. And using the cleared land for farming and mining. They are mining for gold and coal. Whilst they are doing that they are destroying the rainforests and animals lose their homes.
Finally we need rainforests as they process most of the oxygen we breathe. The trees draw in the bad air (carbon dioxide) and use it to grow and process the good air into the atmosphere. When the trees are destroyed they give off carbon dioxide which is bad for our atmosphere.
That is why I think we should help save rainforests. We need to to help save rainforests to make sure all the animals, especially endangered animals have a place to stay.

Moon Rover Lander
For science we made a Moon rover lander using only a paper cup, paper, cellotape and straws. We were given the task of making our Moon rover land softly onto our Moon landscape so that our marsh-mellow astronauts did not fly out.
What I like best about my Moon rover is the spring.
What I needed to modify on my Moon lander rover was to tighten my lander spring.
One thing I learned about landing on the Moon was you have to make a spring.
Here is a picture of my Moon rover landing on our school’s Moon surface. I hope you like it!
