Handwriting Sample

At the end of the term we did a handwriting sample. We had to use our capital and lower case letters.
We had to write a sentence about our science fair. I think my handwriting is very good because I copied it correctly. I think I could sit the letters on the line. Here is a photo of my handwriting sample.

Garden to table

Today in garden to table I was in the garden. We did lots of weeding. Laylah and I picked some flowers and there were some pink, white, orange, yellow and red sweetpeas and put them into a pot. After  we finished picking our flowers, we went and planted some strawberry plants. After that we went into the orchard and planted passionfruit plants.  Once we had finished in the garden we went around the front and put our gloves back into the bag and washed our hands and sat on the field and had a picnic.  It was yum! Here are some photos of me in the garden.

Musical Instruments

Team Awa made instruments using recycled materials.  I made a drum using a plastic pot.  I am really happy because it sounds like a real drum.

Here is a photo of my instrument.

Koru Art

We made koru art with Whaea Rose by printing our cut out korus onto a white piece of paper.  We did this by drawing our korus first, then cutting them out and printing them onto paper.  We used a roller to stick them down.
My koru represents my family.
I really like the way that the birds are flying in my koru art.
Here is a photo of my art.

Scientific Writing

We did a hovercraft experiment and then we wrote it up using the correct structure.

TITLE
Balloon Hovercraft
QUESTION
How does a hovercraft hover?

HYPOTHESIS

I predict that the balloon hovercraft will hover over the table.

EQUIPMENT  AND MATERIALS:
Cd, balloon, bottle cap.

PROCEDURE:
Step 1:Using a hot glue gun, glue the bottle cap over the CD hole.
Step 2: Blow up a balloon. When it is fully inflated twist the end so no air comes out.
Step 3: Stretch the balloon end over the bottle lid.
Step 4: Open up the cap and place the CD on a table.
Step 5: Untwist balloon and let go.

OBSERVATIONS/RESULTS:
I found out that the air from the balloon creates a path of air.

CONCLUSION:
The air from the balloon creates a cushion of moving air between the disc and the surface. The air lifts the CD and reduces the friction which allows the CD to hover across the surface.

Volume and Capacity

This week we used popcorn to learn about volume and capacity. here is what I learned.
